Experience life on the coast at our waterfront hostel
Project Oceanology is a year-round marine science and environmental education organization. Our on-site hostel gives students the unique opportunity to live where they learn, creating an immersive experience where every moment sparks curiosity and connection.
The hostel spans two floors in the north wing of our building and accommodates up to 56 guests — each floor includes seven bunk rooms, with one room on each floor reserved for group leader(s)/chaperones only. Every bunk room has two bunk beds (sleeping up to four people) and individual closets for each guest. Male, female, and all-gender restrooms with showers are also available.
Want meals included? UCONN Dining Services can provide meals for Project Oceanology hostel groups with prior approval (15-meal minimum required).
“My favorite part (as a professional) was the behavior of our students. They were pretty consistently on task and asked great questions, and provided fantastic answers. My favorite part (personally) was discovering that squids have teeny tiny beaks! Who knew?”
Every contribution to Project Oceanology empowers over 25,000 students and adults each year to explore and learn through hands-on, oceanic adventures.

Your support is vital in providing our life-changing programs that enrich the education of the next generation of environmental stewards and marine scientists. Our work wouldn’t be possible without donations from supporters like you.
