Marine algae (seaweed) is of great importance to coastal and nearshore environments. In this lesson, students learn about seaweed anatomy and classification as they identify seaweed specimens. For lab programs taught at Project Oceanology only, students may have the opportunity to collect their own algae samples for this lab. Student algae collection is dependent on weather and tide.

Labs taught at Project Oceanology take place over 2.5 hours so this program plus one additional lab of your choosing will be taught.

Labs taught at your location will take place during the school day. The timing will depend on the number of classes/sections in your grade level or course. One lab program is taught per visit.
