Trip Description

The rocky shore is a rugged environment, battered by surf and changing seasons, and exposed to dramatic daily swings in temperature and tides.  Students will conduct a study to identify habitable zones along the rocky shore and the organisms that live there. Students will also use field chemistry kits to collect data on water temperature, density, salinity, dissolved oxygen, CO2 and pH.

To prepare for this trip: Students should be in sensible footwear (sneakers, boots, crocs) for our exploration in the rocky habitat. The rocks can be slick with algae and closed-toe shoes are ideal.
