Trip Description
Students will evaluate two potential sites, one in Fishers Island Sound and the other in Long Island Sound, for a potential wind farm. Students will weigh a variety of information on water depth, bottom type, prevailing winds, environmental impacts on birds and marine mammals to make a final recommendation for a site for a wind farm.
To prepare for this trip: Students should wear closed toed shoes or boots and dress for the weather. Remember, it's typically colder and windier by the water. Winter coats, hats and gloves are all recommended. Life jackets will be provided.
