Allison Keck

Marketing & Communications Specialist

Allison became a part of Project Oceanology in June of 2025, taking on the role of Marketing & Communications Specialist. Prior to joining Project Oceanology, Allison had extensive years of experience in marketing and communications, with a strong focus on event planning, particularly within the nonprofit sector. Allison is known for her creative storytelling, strong community relationships, and dedication to mission-driven work. Allison holds an Associates of Arts degree in individualized studies from the former Mount Ida College and her Bachelor of Science degree in media studies from Sacred Heart University.

Growing up near Long Island Sound, Allison was surrounded by the beauty of the water. Whether she was building sandcastles on the beach, instructing swim lessons, lifeguarding, or simply enjoying the sunset, each moment was filled with a sense of joy and tranquility. During her teenage years, she even participated in Project Oceanology. The water serves not just as a backdrop, but as her true happy place.

Outside of her work with Project Oceanology, Allison dedicates a significant portion of her time to supporting the veteran community. Since 2015, she has served as a volunteer leader for Team Red, White, and Blue, a national nonprofit organization committed to enriching the lives of military veterans. Her contributions have been recognized with several honors, including the 2016 40 Under Forty Award in Southeastern Connecticut, the 2019 Norwich Area Veterans Council Veteran Supporter of the Year Award, and the 2023 Sacred Heart University Volunteer Service Alumni Award. When she’s not working or volunteering, Allison enjoys shopping for the latest stylish shoes, spending quality time with her family, or being a devoted “Dog Mom” to her dogs.

What do you love most about Project Oceanology?

Witnessing a child’s reaction upon seeing a marine animal for the first time is truly heartwarming. It’s an experience that makes you wish to relive those moments through their eyes. When a child sees something for the first time, their eyes widen with wonder and curiosity. Their faces often brighten with smiles or gasps of amazement. These first encounters are precious, as they lay the foundation for a lifetime of exploration and learning.

What marine animal is your favorite?

I absolutely love the Feather Blennies! Each time I visit our seawater lab, they welcome you with such enthusiasm that I can’t help but smile.
