Amy joined Project Oceanology in June of 2021, as a Marine Science Educator, as well as the building’s Residential Supervisor. She holds a B.S in Environmental Science from Colby-Sawyer College during which time she served 2 summers as a Project Oceanology intern and confirmed her love for both marine science and education. Amy also holds teaching certifications in science grades 5-12.
Aside from teaching, during her time at Project Oceanology, Amy obtained her USCG 100GRT Masters License and became the 1st female Enviro-Lab Captain! In her role, she supports the maintenance of both our fleet of skiffs and our research vessels.
In her free time, Amy enjoys spending time with family and friends, paddleboarding, going to the beach, and antiquing!
What do you love most about Project Oceanology?
The staff! Our field team is small but what we are able to accomplish is impressive. We give students a unique opportunity to come aboard our vessels and interact with an environment that they otherwise would not have access to.
What marine animal is your favorite?
A narwhal! They are beautiful animals, but there is also an element of mystery that I love about them. There are elements of their lives that scientists are still trying to figure out.
