Lisa started at Project Oceanology April 2018 as the Accounts Manager. She has extensive experience in taxation, accounting and accounting principles, QuickBooks, payroll, grants, and employment/payroll law. She is proficient in nonprofit finance and compliance. Her past experience includes 8 years of teaching business and accounting to adult learners at a career school. She has an Associate of Science in Business degree and a Bachelor of Arts in Education degree.
Lisa grew up in the Westerly, RI/Pawcatuck, CT area where Misquamicut Beach and the beauty of Watch Hill were her favorite spots to go to and chill out throughout her childhood; the water has always been her peace. As a young adult she moved to the New London/Waterford area and raised two children, who are now grown, and currently resides with her husband, Anthony.
Outside of work Lisa enjoys being with family and enjoying her time with her 6 grandchildren, whether they are near or far (thankful for technology). She has found solace at the gym where she can unwind from the daily financial numbers and spreadsheets. Music and dance have always been at the root of her upbringing and lifestyle, even currently. You will always find her listening to music, even throughout the day. She has a sense of humor and she and her husband love to make people laugh and just have fun!
What is your favorite marine animal?
The one animal that Lisa has been drawn to is the otter. Why the otter? Well, some of their characteristics and personality align with hers. Otters are outgoing, optimistic (“things can always be worse”), energetic, enjoy humor (“laughter is good for the soul”), impulsive (“yup, guilty!”), talkative, intelligent, problem solver, curious (always learning & researching), strong family bond, plus – you have to admit they are adorable!
