Sydney became a part of Project Oceanology in October of 2024, taking on the role of Part- Time Educator. She works primarily in the aquarium and with after-school programs. Prior to joining Project Oceanology, Sydney spent time with Mystic Aquarium as a marine educator and The Ocean Project. Sydney has a B.S. in marine science from the University of New England.
Growing up near Long Island Sound, Sydney spent a lot of time in the water. Starting as a camper here at Project Oceanology her love for the ocean grew. She has spent time in Belize and Bermuda studying coral ecology and marine life. During her undergrad she spent time working in a clownfish and seahorse lab.
Outside of her work with Project Oceanology, Sydney likes to go to the beach, gym, hang out with friends and spend time with her pets.
What do you love most about Project Oceanology?
Project Oceanology was my first experience with marine focused research. It helped solidify my want to study the marine environment. I love seeing students unlock their passion for the ocean similar to how I did. This is an experience my friends remember about school and I love that Project Oceanology can make such an impact on people.
What marine animal is your favorite?
My favorite animal is a manatee. They are considered one of the kindest animals out there, and they are really fun to swim with!
