2027 Homeschool Series: Critter Explorations, ages 6–8

January Week 4: Schooling Fish

Students will work in small groups to observe several fish species found in Long Island Sound. Using these observations, students will create and support a hypothesis about whether each species is primarily a schooling or solitary fish, based on its behavior and physical characteristics. Students will then teach their peers about the fish they observed.

Learning Outcome: Students will learn about native fish species in Long Island Sound, physical and behavioral adaptations, and schooling vs. solitary fish.
